Overview

This Community of Practice Master Class Series is a virtual, three-part program designed to support tobacco control, mental health, and substance use treatment professionals strengthen nicotine cessation services through partnership building, peer engagement, and integrated care models.

Through expert-led instruction and peer exchange, participants will explore practical strategies to improve coordination, engagement, and sustainability of nicotine treatment initiatives across behavioral health settings.

What you will gain

By the end of the series, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify effective strategies to develop partnerships across mental health and substance use treatment settings to effectively treat and support people with nicotine dependence.
  2. Integrate peer support into nicotine cessation initiatives to enhance engagement, trust, and retention in care.
  3. Strengthen nicotine cessation service delivery through coordinated and integrated support.
  4. Apply integrated approaches to strengthen nicotine treatment efforts within their own programs.

 

Who Should Join

This series is designed for state and local tobacco control staff, tobacco treatment specialists, mental health and substance use treatment providers, and community-based tobacco control organizations and advocates. This series offers practical tools to strengthen nicotine cessation across the behavioral health continuum.

To maximize learning and peer exchange, participants are expected to attend all three sessions.

 

Sessions

Sessions will be virtual and take place from 2-3:30p.m. ET every other Wednesday between May 6 and June 3.

Session 1 – May 6 – Building Collaborative Care Models to Improve Treatment for Nicotine Use
Session 2– May 20 – Leveraging Peer and Community Support to Enhance Engagement and Retention in Care
Session 3 – June 3 – Utilizing Integrated Support to Strengthen Nicotine Cessation Service Delivery

The registration form will take about 10-15 minutes to complete, and you have the option to save & return later if needed. This registration includes questions about your perception of current readiness and knowledge in the CoP Master Class topics, information about what you wish to gain from participating, and you will be asked to list one goal you would like to work towards through your participation. Registration is open through April 21.
